"I am so sick of this cold winter season! It makes looking for food so much harder!" said Izzie, as she poked her beak in the water.

"Me too! The water is just too cold to swim in," said Penny. "It’s as cold as ice!"

"Well, winter will be over soon. We only have 29 more days to go," Gabby replied.

Cocoa kicked a pebble angrily. "I’m sick of being cold; I wish we lived somewhere warm! What I would do to have a nice tan? I’m so pale!" she complained.

"But Adelie penguins aren’t supposed to live in warm areas. Our home is in Antarctica where it’s cold," Gabby remarked.

"I don’t care where we’re supposed to be. I’m not afraid of being different." Cocoa said excitedly. Tomorrow, I’m going to swim somewhere warm, like a beach."

"You can’t swim to a warm beach all by yourself!" Penny replied. "You'll get lost!"

"The closest one is thousands of miles away! And even if you could swim there, could you survive the warm weather?" Gabby asked.

"I am made for the warm weather!" Cocoa answered, for she was always looking for adventures.

"We’ll miss you, though!" Izzie said. "Who will help us talk to the boy penguins?"

"You’ll be fine without me. It’s not like I’ll never come back to visit. Hey, you could come with me!" Cocoa said.

"No way, I can’t swim that far," Izzie replied.

"I can’t leave. I just started a new book." Gabby said. She read a new book every day.
