patient woodpecker finally gave up. He decided that he had met his match and went to find a less stubborn worm.

William knew that he had won and poked his head out from his hole into the bright sunlight. At last William had beaten the woodpecker and he was happy realizing he was

free, he became happier and he was now the happiest that he had ever been.

Chirper, the chickadee, had spent her whole day around the sycamore tree. She was entertained by all the crazy creatures that she had seen while she sifted the ground for seeds. But now the sun was setting and she knew that it was time for her to go home.

On her way home, she thought to herself that she was glad to have traveled so far to find seeds. The sycamore that she had found today had good creatures, better shade than any other tree and the best seeds that she had ever had.
