gone all day!"
"Indeed! We were about to send out a search party. We have been worried sick!" Eric’s father cried. The boys told their parents about the jay on the way home thinking that this would be a good excuse for being so late. Their parents were shocked and quite upset that they had been talking to a stranger, much less a bird. "Why don’t I tell you the story of Henry the worm, who found his fate with a hungry Robin?" Oliver’s father said. "Not very long ago, there lived a young worm named Henry. He, too, enjoyed playing outside for long hours. In fact, he frequently visited the orchards and gardens, just like you boys. He always came home late, and his |

One day, Henry came home late. He was late coming home after spending a day out in the peach orchard down the road, when Robin flew over him and landed, just a few feet away. "If I could fly, I would be home so much sooner. I wouldn’t be nearly as tired, or in as much trouble!" Henry thought to himself. He decided to ask Robin for a ride, and then he realized she was already starting to walk over to him. He knew he was not supposed to talk to strangers, but he was getting tired, and it was late. "Excuse me! Could I trouble you for a ride home? I’m tired, and I am late getting back to my house!" The Robin looked at him in wonder. |
