"Don’t you know that I am a bird?" Robin said.
"Well of course!" Henry said. "And do you know what birds do little worms?" Robin said. "Give them rides home?" Henry asked, hopefully. "No. We eat them!" the Robin cried, and she snapped Henry up and gulped him down in a single bite. " "That’s an awful story!" Oliver cried, when his father had finished talking. "Well, maybe next time you will remember not to talk to strangers. You are lucky it was a nice bird today, rather than the hungry Robin," Oliver’s father said. After hearing the story of Henry and the Robin, Oliver and his friends made |
sure never to be out too late again. More importantly, they
learned not to talk to strangers.
However, they still enjoyed the occasional peach down the road at the big peach orchard, as long as they were back in time for supper. |
